SVITZER Salvage B.V. is the salvage division of the SVITZER Group and in turn a member of the A.P. Moller Group.
In SVITZER Salvage B.V., the salvage experience and knowledge of many sources are combined. The oldest section of the company, through the SVITZER Harbour Towage operations in Amsterdam, originates back to 1807 with the first (inland waterways) salvage having been done as early as 1817.
With the set-up of SVITZER Group in 2001 the Group salvage resources have been concentrated in SVITZER Salvage B.V. with its HQ in IJmuiden, The Netherlands. This combines the salvage experience, knowledge and resources of:
Svitzer, established as a salvage company in Denmark in 1833, having operated worldwide and one of the founding fathers of the ISU, being engaged amongst others in the major wreck clearance project in the 1950s of the Suez Canal on instructions of the UN. This is the oldest salvage company still in existence.
Wijsmuller Salvage B.V., a company started in 1906 in The Netherlands, which specialized in ocean towing and salvage.
Roda Bolaget of Sweden, which had the familiar Neptune salvage company of Sweden as its predecessor. Neptune was also engaged in salvage with tugs on station worldwide and is amongst others the salvor of the 300 year old war ship WASA, which in the 1960's was floated into a drydock on its own keel after having been raised from the seabed she sank to on her maiden voyage off Stockholm in 1628.
Cory Towage in the U.K., a combination of a number of towage companies in the U.K. and Canada.
Perdana Salvage Pte. Ltd. of Singapore, which was formed by part management of SALVINDO of Singapore, during the end 1980-ies and 1990-ies a very active salvage company in Singapore and the surroundings.
Gebr. Goedkoop, now Wijsmuller Harbour Towage Amsterdam, which was one of the founding companies of Mammoet heavy lift. Goedkoop, through its subsidiary BTS and has been heavily engaged in inland waterways salvage. Goedkoop’s predecessor was the company established in 1807 and having done its first salvage operation in 1817.
